Hartlepool United's Jack Hunter Outlines Ambitions for New Season

Jack Hunter, the new club captain of Hartlepool United, discusses the team’s ambitions ahead of the upcoming season. He is excited to lead the squad into their new campaign, which begins with a match against Barrow.
Hunter signed a new contract that extends his stay until 2027 and was recently named as the club captain. Speaking at the club's Maiden Castle training base, he shared his thoughts on the team’s ambitions:
> “We're an ambitious squad. We want to do as well as we can and win as many games of football as we can and see where that takes us come the end of the season,” Hunter said.
He also highlighted the players' hunger for improvement, noting that it is evident in training:
> “They’re all really hungry to improve and I think that’s a massive thing. I think you see that every day in training, that everyone's working really hard.”
Hunter is pleased about the new leadership structure, with Reiss McNally named as vice-captain under new head coach Lee Clark.
Front-Foot Football and Team Dynamics
Hunter believes the team will play a more aggressive style of football this season. He stated:
> “I think you want to be in front of the home fans as quick as possible so hopefully we can show them what we're about starting on Saturday and we’re going to really kick on. It's going to be front-foot football, I think, from what everybody’s seen that we've produced already in pre-season.”
The team is also focused on maintaining a positive environment with strong competition for places. Hunter added:
> “There's a lot of competition for places this year, I think you'll see that in training and people are fighting for that place and I think that’s healthy, it's been really positive.”
