Hartlepool's National League campaign kicked off with a thrilling 2-0 win over Barrow at Victoria Park. The Pools took the lead in the 39th minute when Brooklyn Ilunga's cross from the left was turned in by Will Harris. Innes Cameron should have levelled before half-time but lobbed over, while Olly Crankshaw had the ball in the back of the net just after the hour mark but the goal was ruled out for offside. Jack Nolan put the result beyond doubt five minutes from time when he rifled past Ben Winterbottom from just outside the area to give Pools an opening day win. The victory marks a promising start for the Pools in the new season, with their next fixture scheduled for 16th February 2027 against Harrogate Town.
