Hartlepool United's 3-1 home defeat to Worthing on Saturday afternoon proved to be Lee Clark's final match as manager. The result leaves the club 19th in the National League with nine points from nine games.
Cory Adjetey-Brew opened the scoring for the visitors after 35 minutes, with Ricky Aguiar doubling the lead just before the hour mark. Will Harris pulled a goal back for Pools in the 77th minute, his first since the opening day of the season, but Jose Marquez sealed the win for Worthing in stoppage time.
Lee Clark confirmed his departure after the match. "The post-match assessments of the defeat were dominated by talk of Clark’s decision to step down from his role with Pools," he said.
Individual performances were mixed. Substitute Cole Deeming and Charlie Thornton were the highest-rated players on the day, each receiving a seven. Jack Nolan was given a four, described as ineffective, while several others, including Nathan Fisher, Cam John and Brooklyn Ilunga, were rated at five. The defeat extends a poor run of form, with four consecutive league losses now on the record.
