Harvey Cartwright secures League Two loan move
Hartlepool United’s former loan goalkeeper Harvey Cartwright has joined League Two side Grimsby Town on a season-long loan deal. The 23-year-old keeper, who spent time at Victoria Park last season, will now look to make an impact at Blundell Park.
What happened during his Hartlepool loan?
Cartwright joined Hartlepool from Hull City last summer and quickly established himself as a key figure under then-manager Simon Grayson. He kept seven clean sheets in 13 appearances before a serious thigh injury cut his loan spell short. Grayson praised his performances, calling him "outstanding" before his unfortunate injury in a defeat against Carlisle United.

While Cartwright’s departure means Hartlepool lose a proven goalkeeper, his move to Grimsby highlights his potential and the respect he has earned in the lower leagues. The club will now focus on their next fixture, an away trip to Harrogate Town on 16th February 2027, where they currently sit 16th in the National League table.
What’s next for Cartwright?
After signing a new contract with Hull City, Cartwright expressed his excitement about returning to Grimsby, a club he supported as a child. He told The Mariners’ website: "I’m absolutely delighted to be back here; it means a lot more to me being a Town fan growing up. I remember coming to Blundell Park as a young lad and dreaming of playing in goal, so this is really special."
